Houser’s Mill Road MSWL
Started 2000; Ongoing
TPE has managed all engineering, environmental, and regulatory activities associated with post-closure care of the Houser’s Mill Road MSWLF for Peach County. Our work includes landfill gas monitoring & control, groundwater assessment monitoring and reporting, storm water management, sampling and reporting, monitoring well installation and documentation, expert witness services, and corrective action management. HMW completed an Assessment of Corrective Measures Report to delineate the extent of groundwater impacted by a release of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by using a combination of rotary sonic drilling methods and hydro-punch groundwater sampling.
A mobile laboratory was used to provide rapid analysis of the groundwater samples so that nested groundwater monitoring wells could be installed for long term monitoring use. TPE also completed the design of an active Landfill Gas and Leachate Extraction System for the facility that consisted of 36 gas extraction wells tied to a common header pipe. Landfill gas extracted from the subsurface is then flared. Leachate is pumped from two wells in the landfill to a 5,000-gallon storage tank.
